College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry

Since establishment in 1947, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Mathura has contributed significantly not only in terms of generation of trained human resource, but also the research contributions have been of high academic standard, which were internationally recognized. This Institution has a very glorious past. The college building of more than 50 years age is being renovated and the labs and hospital is being equipped with modern technical facilities under the able leadership of our present administrator. There are 18 teaching departments and the on the basis of successful completion of undergraduate course spread over ten semesters (including internship) degree of BVSc & AH is awarded. Post graduate and PhD programmes are research based and are available in almost all the disciplines of veterinary science.

Madhurikund campus

The college has about 2700 acres of land at its Mathura and Madhurikund campus, a place near 14 km from Mathura city. The DDD Farm and Madhurikund Farms have been associated with the college since its inception.

Eighteen undergraduate teaching departments, department of Poultry Science, Dept. of dairying, Pasture and Fodder crop division, Kothari Veterinary Hospital, NCC and NSS wing, as its constituent units.

 

 

New Infrastructure Development

The Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go-Anusandhan Sansthan, Mathura came into existence on Oct. 25, 2001, by an Act of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh (Act No. 27 of 2001) and the Veterinary College, Mathura became its first constituent College.

The objectives and mandate of the University are:

  • to impart  quality education  in Veterinary  and allied sciences;
  • to undertake need-based and basic research; and
  • to provide extension services to disseminate the research findings and knowledge to farmers and livestock owners.

The new Veterinary University, in addition to the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry and recently started College of Biotechnology, Go Anusandhan Sansthan and Diploma Programmes, will have the following faculties which would be started in a phased manner:

  • College of – Fisheries
  • College of – Livestock Products Technology
  • College of – Animal Industry and Business Management

The building construction work for these colleges is almost complete and in near future these college would be manned, equipped and furnished properly for the teaching to begin for respective degree/diploma courses.

The University has four well-ventilated, neat and clean hostels for boys  girl students. Each hostel is having common room facilities with coloured television, newspapers and magazines for table tennis, carom etc and co-operative and contractual mess. Students recieve milk from the University dairy farm at subsidized rates. The hostels are having 24 hours internet facilites through WIFI networking as well. The hostels are managed by Hostel Superintendents under the supervision of Dean Students Welfare.
