Teaching Veterinary Clinical Service Complex (TVCSC)

The Veterinary Clinic at the campus was established in the year 1950 as Kothari Veterinary Hospital. This clinic since then has been working as referral centre for the cases from all over the state of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, cases come from Haryana, Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi as well since Mathura is a border district of Uttar Pradesh and also due to good client satisfaction and clinical results. The clinical work is done by the collaborating the activity of three clinical departments viz. Surgery, Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The hospital is epicenter of clinical activities imparting clinical teaching and training to undergraduate students.

The hospital has a diagnostic section equipped with a state of art 500 mA diagnostic x-ray unit and an ultrasound machine with convex array and linear rectal transducers.

To hone the professional efficiency and skill of the students hi-tech diagnostic and treatment facilities have been procured recently. To develop a section of the hospital as experiential learning center, its renovation and maintenance is being done which involves civil work alterations to house a large animal operation room, orthopedic operation room, minimally invasive and ophthamology operation room, a diagnostic laboratory, sterile supply section and a lecture hall for e-teaching from the grant received from Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Recently the hospital is equipped with a haematology auto-analyzer, an autoanalyzer for biochemical parameters, a 100 mA mobile x-ray machine, a small animal anaesthesia machine, a C-arm image intensifier, minimally invasive surgery instruments viz. arthroscope and laparoscope, orthopedic instruments for internal fixation, ophthalmology instruments for intra-ocular and extra-ocular procedures, diagnostic instruments for ophthalmology and general surgery. The large animal surgery section has an hydraulic large animal operation table and facility for conducting rumenotomy.
Apart from running a busy Out Patient Department, the special services provided include:

  • Diagnosis and Treatment of infertility using conventional methods and ultrasonography (h/l).
  • Management of gestational disorders.
  • Management of dystokia by manipulations, fetotomy and Caesarian operation (h/l).
  • Management of fracture in small and large animals by external and internal fixation and management of trauma.
  • Urologic surgery in large and small animals
  • Management of hernias and tumors.
  • Sterilization in large and small animals.
  • Eye surgery including surgical management of cherry eye, corneal opacity, blocked puncta, proptosis of the globe, trauma to globe and adnexa, and eye worm removal by keratotomy, removal of corneal dermoid by superficial keratotomy.
  • Rumenotomy to relieve rumen impaction.
  • Medial patellar desmotomy.
