Student Amenities

University has a large Central Library housed in a three storied building with large number of books and relevant Indian and foreign journals. The library has also the modern facilities like Xerox machine and computer with Internet connections. The library opens since 10.00 A.M. to 8.00 P.M. A separate book bank has been commissioned as additional facility to the students of weaker sections of the society. Apart from the Central Library, Departmental libraries also function in the College of Veterinary Sciences. The Central Library is the hub of scholastic activities.

Dean Students Welfare :
The Department of Students Welfare in the University provides ample scope, opportunities and facilities for all round development, personality and leadership qualities in students. Besides higher standards of academic performance, special stress is laid down on discipline. Students effectively participate in the management of hostels, mess system, games and sports, cultural and literary activities and other functions of the University from time to time.

Hostels :
The University has four well-ventilated neat and clean boy's hostels, three for the undergraduate and one for the post-graduate students. A girls' hostel accommodating 40 girl students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes having good facilities is available. Another girls hostel is under construction at present and will be completed soon. Each hostel has been provided with common room facilities with coloured television, newspapers and magazines. There are also indoor game facilities for Table Tennis, Carom etc. Cooperative Messing facility along with supply of milk at subsidized rates from the University owned dairy farm is also provided for the benefit and convenience of the students. The hostels are managed by Wardens/ Hostel Superintendents who are generally senior teachers of the University under the supervision of Dean Students Welfare (DSW).

Sports :
Facilities for indoor and outdoor games are provided to the students. There is a large play-ground in front of the main building for the outdoor games like cricket, hockey, foot-ball, volley-ball, kabaddi. kho-kho etc. and various other athletic events. A large indoor badminton hall is also available in one of the hostels as round the year facility for indoor game(s). The University organizes annual sports meet along with the cultural programmes. All the sport events are guided and managed under the guidance of Staff Counsellors. President Games and Sports is the overall Coordinating Officer In-charge of all such programmes.

Extra-curricular Activities :
Extra-curricular activities such as debates, declamation quiz, essay writing competition and cultural activities are arranged from time to time under the leadership of a Student Cultural Secretary and Cultural Counsellor.

Educational Tour :
Students of 4th and 5th Professional B.VSc. & A.H. arc taken on educational and professional tours to different parts of India to acquaint themselves with other educational institutions and industry keeping in view of their professional requirements and to improve their competency, technical acumen and scope.

N.S.S. and N.C.C :
N.S.S. and N.C.C. are mandatory for each and every student and these have been included in regular course-curriculum of B.V.Sc. & A.H. Programme Officer cum Coordinator of N.S.S. manages the N.S.S. activities. The students also compulsorily join R & V Sqn. N.C.C where, in addition to other activities of NCC, they learn horse riding and participate in Republic day parade and equestrian competition. The NCC cadets of R. & V. Sqn. have brought many laurels for the Institute.
