Brief Resume of Prof. K.M.L. Pathak

Prof. K.M.L. Pathak born in an agricultural family in a village Naraura, District Etah, UP. He completed his scholastic and pre-university studies from Narauraand Meerut and did his B.V.Sc. & A.H; M.V.Sc.; Ph.D with academic excellence from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. He obtained Post – Doc in Biotechnology from University of Salford, United Kingdom.
Prior to his present assignment as Vice Chancellor of U.P. Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu-chikitsa Vigyan Viswavidyalaya Evam Go-Anusandhan Sansthan, Mathura, Uattar Pradesh ( since 3rd March, 2016 ), he has served as Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR (2010-15); Director, National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner (2006-09); Director Research, Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner (2003-06) , Professor, HOD and PG Faculty, College of Veterinary Science, Bikaner (1986-2003); Senior Research Fellow, Research Associate, Junior Research Officer and Assistant Professor G.B.P.U.A.&T Pantnagar (1980-86). He has made significant contributions to teaching, research, extension, administration and research management of the National Agricultural Research System.
For his excellent academic services, he has been conferred with numerous prestigious honors and awards including Doctor of Science (Honoriscausa) from NDUVS, Jabalpur and DUVASU, Mathura; Life Time Achievement Award; Dr. Rajendra Prasad Award; Dr. B.V.Rao Gold Medal; Dr.R.S. Swami NathanIyer Memorial Award; Best University Teacher Award; Smt. Niranjani Parija Oration Award; Distinguished Veterinarian Award; Agriculture Leadership Award and Puratchi Thalaivi Selvi J Jayalalithaa Endowment Award. Various Societies also recognized his work and awarded Honour of Fellow viz., National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Research and Indian Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology.
His leadership skills are well evident through his functioning as President, National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (2014-2016); President, Indian Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology, Member OIE Ad-hoc Working Group on Non-Tsetse Transmitted Animal Trypanosomosis, Member, Boards of Management/Governing Bodies of National Research Institutes, State Agriculture/ Veterinary Universities, State Go Seva Ayog and Expert Member in many National Committees dealing Policies related to Livestock, Poultry, Biotechnology, Food and Bio-safety and regulatory issues.
Prof. Pathak has more than 130 publications in reputed National / International Journals, six books, three book chapters, three Laboratory Manuals and five Monographs in the field of Infectious Animal Diseases, Veterinary Parasitology, Parasitic Zoonoses, deposition of 18 Gene Sequences with Gene Bank and standardization of several technologies related to Diagnostics.
Prof. Pathak has represented the country in several important international Forum. He has been invited to serve as Member/Chairman on the various committees/organizations/conferences in more than 16 countries.
